Post-traumatic stress disorder, known as PTSD, arises following a traumatic event such as a life-threatening situation, accident, or injury inflicted by oneself or by others. While initially associated with military personnel, PTSD can affect any child, teen, or adult. Symptoms of PTSD can persist for months or years and can interfere with the person's work, home, or social life. Spreading awareness is highly crucial as people with PTSD are often diagnosed only years after the experiences occur.
