As we enter the fall months, we have to be mindful of the thoughts that take on our communities as we approach shorter days and longer nights . Suicide does not have a look and can effect anyone in any community at any time in their life. This is a time to acknowledge those who have been affected by suicidal thoughts and have felt the loss of those lost to suicide.
In the United States, a person will lose their life to suicide every 11 minutes. This month is the time to check up on your loved ones because this can effect anyone no matter race, ethnicity, or gender.
Suicide attempts are estimated to outnumber completions by at least 10 to 1.
Asking if someone is suicidal won't plant new thoughts if they're already there.
